SBA Temporarily Suspends their 8(a) Program

It can be easy to forget that what happens in Washington D.C. can have a direct impact on businesses of all sizes.

While many people learned about the concept of Checks and Balances in their history and civic classes, few have directly felt their direct impacts. As of today the Small Business Administration is no longer process 8(a) applications.  You can read an abstract from the court here.

If this ruling is upheld, it will have a massive impact on government contracting and will most likely filter down into state and municipal programs which provide preferences based on race. Total dollars spent with 8(a) companies by the U.S. Federal government totaled $21.1 billion dollars in 2022.
